PR Productions schedules auditions

Published: Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

Auditions for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and the musical production of “The Wedding Singer” will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Prairie View Elementary School, 1201 N. Castle St. in Sandwich. Both performances will be produced by PR Productions.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” tells the story of a small town doing its best to put on the annual Christmas pageant at the local church. When the Herdman kids show up to a rehearsal, uninvited, participants soon realize that this pageant may not happen ... and if it does, it won’t be pretty. Throughout the course of the production, the Herdmans’ unique interpretation of the classic story teaches everyone a lesson about not judging the book by its cover.

Auditions for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” are open to any individual older than 8. All roles will be cast based on audition attendance, with parts available for children, women and men. Families are strongly encouraged to audition. Performances will be Dec. 12 through 15 at Plano Christian Church. Rehearsals will be determined based on cast availability.

As the winter musical for PR Productions, “The Wedding Singer” is based upon the movie of the same name and follows a wedding band singer in the 1980s and his strange quest for love. The show features music from the motion picture, as well as a large number of songs developed for the original Broadway production.

“The Wedding Singer: the Musical” will feature more than 20 actors and actresses older than 14. Roles include parts for men and women of all ages. Performances will be January 31, Feb. 1, 2 and 7 through 9 at the Sandwich Opera House. Rehearsals will be determined based on cast availability.

Those who wish to audition can arrive at any time within the designated audition period. Those auditioning for “The Wedding Singer,” should prepare 32 measures of music that best displays your vocal ability. Thespians auditioning for either show will participate in an acting audition.
