Congratulations to duck race winners

About 2,000 small plastic ducks were floated down the Kishwaukee River on Sept. 7 at the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce’s 10th annual Great Genoa Duck Race and Family Fun Event.

The first-place winner, who received $500, was Jake Wylde. Brooklynn Mulso won the $250 second-place prize and Feliciano Gomez won the $50 third-place prize. The duck that came in last, winning a $50 prize, belonged to Resource Bank.

Cogsley the Duck mascot and a crowd of supporters cheered on the ducks in the crowning event of the day. The event also included vendors, food, games, a bounce house, face painting and entertainment.

Proceeds from the event will be used to grow chamber events, replace worn-out ducks as they are retired, and help to fund the chamber’s Celebrate the Season event in December.
