DeKalb-based band Hasta Lumbago will celebrate the release of its first album, "Hasta Lumbago," with a free 21-and-older record release show at Otto's Niteclub, 118 E. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, at 9 p.m. Friday.
Hasta Lumbago consists of bassist and vocalist Eric Jorgenson, drummer and vocalist Mike Finnigan and guitarist and vocalist Hayden Hallgren. All three members are DeKalb residents who have been involved in the vibrant local music scene for years.
"We've been a part of this scene since we were kids," Hallgren said in a news release. "When we were young, we saw the college music scene growing. Our practice space has been around for decades. A lot of local bands have gone on to put out some amazing recordings and play some great shows, and that's where we want to be headed."
Hasta Lumbago's self-titled recording, as well as their upcoming record release show, are a culmination of local and Northern Illinois University talent. Senior photography major Melanie Hatch created the album artwork, and 2013 NIU alum Alex Beach mastered the recording. Supporting acts The Phantom Scars, Seasonal Men's Wear, and "Richardson" Richardson are also local to the DeKalb area.
"We're really excited to see our hard work and dedication finally pay off, and we want to thank all of the local bands and the talented people that have helped us reach our goal," Hallgren said.
