Juan DaSilva, Juan Lechuga and William Crozier had goals for Genoa-Kingston in a 3-0 win over Richmond-Burton in a game which involved a 70-minute lightning delay. DaSilva, Uriel Ortega and Erik Tomlinson had assists for the Cogs (6-4 3-1 Big Northern East).
“The second half I thought we played much better. We were connecting on our passes and making good decisions with the ball,” G-K coach Randy Tate said. “Our combinations have been really improving lately and our second goal was on another combination, this time Lechuga to DaSilva.”
Amboy tops Indian Creek in two games: Emma Goodrich had seven kills for Indian Creek in a 25-15, 25-18 loss to Amboy. Hannah Mathews and Rebecca Boehne finished with five assists, while Bailey Martenson had five digs. Olivia Elliot had two aces for the Timberwolves (2-6).
Cogs lose by two strokes: Mendota beat Genoa-Kingston, 170-172. The Cogs’ Nick Adamczek was the medalist, shooting a 38. Tommy Lucca had a 41 while Trevor Carroll finished with a 42.
G-K is now 4-7 in dual meets.
TUESDAY’S LATE RESULTS
Kaneland sweeps: Kaneland swept Rochelle, 5-0, in a Northern Illinois Big 12 East dual match.
Sammie Schrepferman and Stephanie Zwich each won in two sets at the singles spots. Madi Jurcenko and Jelly Emmanouil combined for a win at No. 1 doubles while Stephanie Karolewicz and Colleen Landers won in two sets at No. 2 doubles. Kaylee Shoaff and Mallory Dugan finished off the win with a victory at No. 3 doubles.
Kaneland defeats Sycamore: Sycamore lost to Kaneland, 152-174, in a dual match. Ryan Aurand led the Spartans with a 39 while Keegan Potter, Cam Godinsky and Gus Graves each shot 45.
Kaneland was led by Matt Yonkovich’s 34 and Brody Kuhar’s 38. Jake Hed also shot 39 for the Knights.

Jenny Lubic had nine assists, Hannah Nauert recorded eight assists, Ellie Dunn led the Knights with 10 kills and 10 digs and Riley Hannah had five blocks. Vanessa Gould also had seven kills and six digs on the night for Kaneland (7-8, 1-1)
H-BR edged by Somonauk: Hinckley-Big Rock fell to Somonauk, 29-27, 25-23, on the road.
Caitlyn Flanigan had two aces and eight digs, Karrigan Cowan recorded five kills and eight blocks and Jacqueline Madden chipped in with four kills and eight digs.
“The team, many battling ... colds, got off to a very sluggish start and just couldn’t put together a good run against a Somonauk team that was clearly pumped up,” H-BR coach Joanne Weirich said.
Cogs fall to Rockets: At Burlington, Central defeated the Cogs, 25-16, 25-21, in a Big Northern Conference East Division match.
