Men’s retreat features Robert Thomas

Illinois Supreme Court Justice and former placekicker for the Chicago Bears, Robert Thomas, will be the keynote speaker for a Men’s Retreat, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and runs until 3:30 p..m. Oct. 19 at Walcamp Outdoor Ministries, 32653 Five Points Road, Kingston.

Sponsored by Lutheran Hour Ministries and Word of Life Lutheran Church, the retreat theme is, “Christian Men in the 21st Century!”

Thomas will lead a discussion on how men can remain faithful in the midst of disappointments. Other speakers include Pastor Andrew Shaw from Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville and Pastor Loy Schlote from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Joliet.

Participants also can enjoy the amenities of Walcamp including a campfire on Friday evening, volleyball, soccer, softball, football, bean bags, horseshoes and hiking in the woods.  

Men can participate in the Friday evening session and overnight or attend only Saturday.  

Participants must be age 18 to register. Fathers attending can register their sons age 14 or older. The registration fee is $85 for the overnight, which includes lodging and two meals on Saturday. The Saturday only fee is $40 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Registration is due Oct. 1.
