Published: Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

Local artist Julie Sorensen will be among those featured in this year’s Vicinity Show at the Norris Cultural Arts Center Gallery in St. Charles. The Vicinity Show includes works by artists living and working within a 50-mile radius of the center.

Sorensen’s piece, “Paints and Fronds,” is a mixed media piece made of glass (enamel) fused to copper plates, enhanced with automotive enamel for structure and contrast definition, mounted to wood for presentation as a wall relief.

The Vicinity Show runs through Nov. 2 with artists’ reception and awards presentation from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 6. Most of the work in the show is for sale and can be viewed most days from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Norris Cultural Arts Center is located at 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles.
