IVT to hold auditions for ‘Miracle on 34th Street’

Indian Valley Theatre and Director Debbie Merkel will hold auditions for “Miracle on 34th Street” from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Sandwich Opera House Community Room.

This classic story opens with Doris Walker, Macy’s no-nonsense special events director, finding the actor hired to play Santa Claus intoxicated only moments before the start of the Thanksgiving Day parade. In a panic, Doris persuades a nice old man standing nearby to take his place. The kindly gentleman proves to be a sensation, and is quickly hired to be Macy’s official store Santa. Much to her dismay, Doris soon learns that her new hire claims to be the real Santa. Despite her refusal to believe, many people begin to notice there is something very special about the old man, including her daughter, Susan. What ensues is an exciting courtroom drama that tests everyone’s belief in the magic and spirit of Christmas.

Auditions are a cold reading from the script. All ages are welcome for numerous adult and children’s roles. Any experience level is welcome to audition. No appointment is necessary.

“Miracle on 34th Street” will be performed Dec. 6 through 8 on the Opera House stage.

Indian Valley Theatre is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the appreciation and development of the performing arts in the Fox Valley area.
