Fair parking supports FVOAS

Published: Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

During the recent Sandwich Fair, Fox Valley Older Adult Services provided some close-in parking just across Suydam Road from the fairgrounds. The parking area was expanded thanks to neighbor Nelson Funeral Homes-Crematory, who allowed them to use additional parking spaces behind their building.

“We are grateful to Phil Nelson for providing the extra parking spaces that enabled many more people to park in our lot,” FVOAS Executive Director Cindy Worsley said in a news release.

All proceeds from the parking help support programs and services for seniors in DeKalb, LaSalle, Bureau, Kendall and Kane counties.

FVOAS thanks Don Niersbach for his volunteer work clearing brush from the parking area, the Sandwich Fire Department for overseeing the controlled burn of the brush and Edgebrook Country Club for providing heavy equipment to level the area.

To find out more about FVOAS, call Susan Thanepohn, director of marketing and grants, at 815-786-9404.
