DeKALB – The DeKalb County Board will decide on approving the appointment of Republican Doug Johnson as county clerk and recorder at its meeting Wednesday.

The board’s Executive Committee unanimously approved Johnson’s nomination to become the next county clerk and recorder Tuesday. Johnson has served on the DeKalb County Board of Review and was a Sandwich police commissioner six years ago.

The DeKalb County Republicans chose Johnson to complete the term of John Acardo, who resigned to become director of human resources for Kishwaukee College. State law requires that Acardo’s replacement be at least 18 years old and of the same political party, which is the Republican Party.
