Prep Roundup: Ye, Farris sweep in Sycamore's victory

The Sycamore girls tennis defeated Rockford Lutheran, 4-2, on Monday at home to win its fourth consecutive dual match.

Angelina Ye and Alexa Farris each swept their singles matches, 6-0, 6-0.

Sam Matalonis and Alex Tritt won, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles, and Sonal Patel and Maddy Pawola won at the No. 4 doubles spot in straight sets, as well.

“Everybody played very well,” Sycamore coach Dave Hillmer said. “I was very proud of everybody’s progress so far this season.”

Sycamore plays at Marengo today.  

DeKalb shut out: DeKalb lost to Sterling, 5-0, in a Northern Illinois Big 12 crossover dual match.

VOLLEYBALL

Montini downs Kaneland: Montini defeated Kaneland, 25-23, 25-21, in a nonconference match. Jenny Lubic dished out 18 assists and Ellie Dunn had eight kills to lead the Knights (4-4).

Hawks lose in two: Hiawatha lost to Christian Life, 25-15, 25-18, at home.

Hiawatha (0-5) was led by Dawn Failla’s four kills.

BOYS SOCCER

Kaneland falls: Kaneland lost to Streamwood, 2-0, in a nonconference match. The Knights are 2-2-1.

Hawks lose: Somonauk defeated Hiawatha, 9-1, in a Little Ten Conference match Monday.

Josh Schmitt had a hat trick and Tommy Skupian scored two goals and had two assists for the Bobcats (6-2, 1-0 LTC).

BOYS GOLF

H-BR third at triangular: Hinckley-Big Rock took third in a triangular with Somonauk and Newark. The Royals shot 198 while Newark and Somonauk tied at 195 each.

Hunter Seirstad led the Royals with a 47 while Tyler Runge recorded a 49. Daniel Small had a 49 and Luke Bish shot 54 to complete the Royals’ scoring.

G-K falls: Genoa-Kingston lost to Rock Falls and Rockford Christian in a triangular. The Cogs (173) finished 20 shots behind Rock Falls and two shots behind Rockford Christian.

Nick Adamcyzk led G-K with a 40 while Tommy Lucca shot 41 for the Cogs (2-4).

GIRLS GOLF

Cogs lose: G-K fell to Rock Falls, 192-258, in a dual meet. Andrea Strohmaier led G-K (2-4) with a 52.
