Sept. 11 memorial events planned for Wednesday

Both DeKalb and Sycamore firefighters are hosting events Wednesday to remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Sycamore fire leaders will hold a 10-minute prayer service starting at 9 a.m. at Johnson’s Junction Flagpole, which is across from Sycamore Fire Station 1, 535 DeKalb Ave. For information details, call the fire department at 815-895-4514.

DeKalb fire leaders will hold a remembrance program at 8 a.m. in a classroom at Fire Station 1, 700 Pine St., DeKalb.

The 45-minute program will have a theme of “Why do we continue to remember?” Refreshments will be available, and the public is invited.
