DeKALB – A 20-year-old DeKalb man sent his ex-girlfriend a photo of a bloody woman while he was being booked on a domestic battery charge involving her, police said.
Abraham Arias, of the 300 block of West Roosevelt Street, was charged with domestic battery Aug. 19 for allegedly grabbing the woman by her arms and holding her against a car while questioning why she wasn’t answering his text messages and phone calls, court records show. He also took her cellphone.
While he was in the booking area of the police station, Arias sent the woman a photograph of another woman, bloodied and missing her jaw, and told her to watch her back when he got out of jail because he planned to do that to her, court records show.
Authorities filed charges of intimidation, stalking, theft, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and harassment by telephone against Arias on Thursday. On Friday, he remained in DeKalb County Jail, unable to post 10 percent of his $30,000 bond. He is next due in court Sept. 24.
If convicted of the most serious charge, intimidation, Arias could be sentenced to between two and five years in prison.
