Police released a sketch of a man who took two purses from Northern Illinois University students at gunpoint Aug. 29.

DeKALB – Police released a sketch of a man who took two purses from Northern Illinois University students at gunpoint Aug. 29.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 20 years old, who is between 6 feet and 6 feet, 3 inches tall, and has short hair or braids. He was wearing glasses with thin silver frames, a black baggy T-shirt with a red stripe and white writing and dark basketball shorts, according to a news release.

He approached the women in the 600 block of Russell Road about 9:45 p.m. and then fled on foot through the University Village apartment complex, the release states.

Anyone with information about this crime, the items taken or the people involved is asked to contact DeKalb County Crime Stoppers at 815-895-3272 or email crimestoppers@dekalbcounty.org. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward up to $1,000 and reports can be made anonymously.
