Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter FO Sandwich and Redbud Creek Farm will sponsor a Fall Garden Tour and Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21, rain or shine.
Explore five extraordinary gardens featuring a mix of styles and purposes. The gardens are located in Plano and Sandwich. Tickets cost $10 and are available from P.E.O. members at each garden on tour day, at Redbud Creek Farm in Sheridan and at Dr. Maroscia’s Dental Office in Somonauk.
Enjoy shopping for fall garden items at Red Bud Creek Farm. Unique plants, speciality items and gift items will be for sale in addition to a variety of crafts. Lunch will be available at the farm from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One of the featured gardens is the McAdams / McCurdy garden at 404 N. West St. in Sandwich. A meandering brick path defines this garden and its selection of shrubs, bushes, tropical plants, herbs and flowers. Planting beds divide the space into a series of captivating views. Sunny borders host a mixture of annuals and perennials. Charming garden ornaments here and there reflect the gardener’s artistic sensibility.
Another tour stop, the Pescitelli garden at 209 Elmwood Place in Sandwich, offers an oasis of peace and tranquility. Many of the perennials are gifts from friends and family who share Pam Pescitelli’s love of flowers. The patio beside the backyard pool offers visitors a place to sit and enjoy the colorful flower beds.
Proceeds from the garden tour will be used to fund six educational projects focused on bringing increased opportunities for women. Founded in 1869, P.E.O. promotes continuing education and well-being for women. There are approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with nearly 250,000 active members. Sandwich Chapter FO was established in 1941. More information about P.E.O. is available at www.peointernational.org.
