Northern Illinois’ 2013-14 men’s basketball schedule includes games at Nebraska (Nov. 30), Massachusetts (Dec. 14), Loyola-Chicago (Dec. 18) and Iowa State (Dec. 31).
NIU opens the season at the Convocation Center against Nebraska Omaha at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8, and has its first five games at home.
The Huskies will host the NIU Invitational from Nov. 15 - 17, and NIU will take on James Madison, San Jose State and UW-Milwaukee at the event.
The Huskies’ other nonconference games are – Division II St. Joseph’s out of Indiana (Nov. 24), Dartmouth (Dec. 5), at UC Riverside (Dec. 22) and Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 3).
“We are excited about our schedule for this season,” Montgomery said in a news release. “Any time you can play your first five games at home that should be a positive thing. The other side of that is we only have one home game in December, so that should provide a real test for them heading into conference play.”
One change to the Mid-American Conference schedule this season is an 18-game league slate. The Huskies will play each team in the MAC West twice. NIU will play every team in the East Division once, with the exception of Buffalo and Kent State, which the Huskies will have a home-and-home with.
The MAC Tournament will run from March 10 to 15. The first round will be at campus sites, with the later rounds at Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena.
