The Sycamore High School Music Department has purchased of new marching band uniforms.
The purchase process took more than a year, from the initial planning and preliminary design to the arrival of the new uniforms.
Music teachers Ken Goodman and Scott Mertens worked with the school district and the Sycamore Music Boosters, and received student input during the process.
“We are very pleased with our new uniforms, Band Director Ken Goodman said in a news release. “They incorporate many positive design elements that make them more visually appealing, much better-fitting, and more comfortable to wear.
“They also combine a traditional marching band look with modern styling, and the end product is one that will provide a strong visual impact for many years,” he said in the release.
The purchase of the new uniforms was made possible through support and fundraising by the Sycamore Music Boosters and the Sycamore School District.
The uniforms will officially be unveiled at the first home football game of the season on Friday, with the Varsity game beginning at 7:30 p.m. The SHS Marching Band will perform a half-time show featuring favorite classical music selections including Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake,” “Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony” and Dvorak’s “New World Symphony.”
