Hinckley-Big Rock boys golf defeated IMSA, 194-195, in the Royals’ first dual meet of the season Monday at Hughes Creek Golf Club in Elburn.
The Royals were led by senior Tyler Runge, who shot a 46 and junior Daniel Small, who shot a 48. Junior Hunter Seierstad (49) and senior Luke Bish (51) also figured in the scoring for H-BR.
“Overall a good meet and I’m proud we got the victory at our first 9-hole event,” H-BR coach Kyle Donka said.

The Royals led, 1-0, at the half on a penalty kick by Jack Bullard and won on a penalty kick by Jeremy Perales with just more than seven minutes left in the game. Jason Bohannon was in net for the Royals (1-0).
Somonauk defeats Genoa-Kingston: Somonauk won its season opener, 7-1, at home against Genoa-Kingston (0-1).
William Crozier scored G-K’s lone goal in the second and was assisted by Uriel Ortega.
“We made a lot of mistakes, but now we know what we have to improve upon,” G-K coach Randy Tate said. “Hopefully, we will get things worked out and corrected early in the season.”
Tommy Skupian, Josh Schmitt and Jacob Kenyan each had two goals for the Bobcats.
Kaneland upends West Chicago: Kaneland won its home dual meet against West Chicago, 6-1.
Sammie Schrepferman and Stephanie Karoleweicz each recorded straight-sets wins in singles while Kaneland swept all four doubles matches.
Madi Jurcenko and Jelly Emmanouil won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0, while Stephanie Zwick and Kaylee Shoaff won, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
H-BR beats ACC: Hinckley-Big Rock defeated Aurora Central Catholic, 208-222, in a dual meet at Phillips Park in Aurora.
The Royals were led by senior McRaye Scheller’s 48 while seniors Caitlyn Fecht and Kim Weissinger posted 52 and 53 respectively. Junior Taylor Prellberg (55) also figured in the scoring for H-BR.
“Our seniors are putting the team in a position to compete,” H-BR coach Greg Jourdan said. “Scheller and Fecht played a solid round on a great course, and first-year player Weissinger should continue to lower her scores with more experience.”
Yorkville downs Sandwich: Yorkville defeated Sandwich, 25-12, 25-6, on Monday.
Stephanie Sanchez had five digs while Kylie Knur recorded three kills for the Indians.
Hiawatha falls to Paw Paw: Hiawatha lost to Paw Paw, 25-19, 25-7, in a home match.
