Bartels named starting QB at North Dakota

Former Sycamore quarterback is only a redshirt freshman

Former Sycamore quarterback Ryan Bartels has been named the starting quarterback for North Dakota heading into its season-opening game against Valparaiso on Thursday.

Bartels is only a redshirt freshman at North Dakota and was battling for playing time with Joe Mollberg, also a redshirt freshman.

The Grand Forks Herald (N.D.) reports that the coaching staff will play both quarterbacks in the opener.
