Published: Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 Twombly Road, DeKalb will hold a free screening of the film “The Dream is Now” at 6 p.m. today. The public is invited.

The film highlights the human stories behind immigration reform legislation and focuses on the voices of young people who are currently unable to pursue an education, employment or military service because of their immigration status.

“This event and events like it around the country are vital for getting this conversation out in the open. The time is now to pass immigration reform in the United States,” Ellingsworth Webb, Organizing for America volunteer said in a news release. OFA in Illinois is sponsoring this event.

Immediately following the film screening will be a short presentation and discussion.

Any questions should be directed to Timothy Muldrew at 815-540-2606.
