A sign with information about the Great Genoa Duck Race and Family Fun Event is traveling around to Genoa Chamber businesses.

The Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce’s new giant duck sign arrived at Tobinson’s Ace Hardware on Aug. 12, and is moving to chamber member businesses around the community promoting the chamber’s 10th annual Great Genoa Duck Race and Family Fun Event.

The duck race will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at Carroll Memorial Park in Genoa. Ducks will be launched on the Kishwaukee River at 1:30 p.m. About 2,000 little plastic ducks are available for adoption. Two ducks cost $5, 12 cost $25, or a flock of 50 is $100. “Adopters” watch their ducks float down the river; the first three ducks to finish and the last duck to finish will earn their adopters cash prizes.

Tickets can be purchased at chamber member businesses where the giant duck is displayed, from the chamber office and from chamber board members and ambassadors. Visit www.genoaareachamber.com for details.

Cogsley the Duck mascot will be on hand at the event to take photos with young fans. There will be a live radio broadcast by WLBK/WSQR, an inflatable bounce house, face painting, food vendors, the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department and rescue squad, Genoa and Kingston police officers, a performance by the Genoa-Kingston High School band, games and vendors.

For more information about the event, sponsorship or registering as a vendor, visit the chamber website, call 815-784-2212 or email genoachamber@gmail.com.
