To the Editor:

I would like to say thanks to all for making Pay-it-Forward House’s 8th annual Meet Me at the Fair event a success. We enjoy inviting the community to come out for an old-fashioned day of free family activities, food and fun, and to learn more about the services we provide to families and friends of patients receiving medical treatment in DeKalb County. A great deal of work and time goes into putting this event together and there are many to thank!

First, thank you to the members of our community who have supported this event, whether by attending, donating supplies or silent auction items, or bringing their special talents to the event to help ensure its success. Everyone from the volunteers who set up in the morning, to those who sell raffle tickets at the Fair, to the volunteers who help with the kids games, to those who provided the entertainment and prepare the food; Everyone did an outstanding job! And we couldn’t have done it without the large group of area businesses that provide supplies and support for the event. We at the Pay-It-Forward House are fortunate that our community has such a giving heart!

Second, I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the sponsors who provided financial support for the event. We are so lucky that all of our sponsors recognize the good work we do and are willing to help us, which in return, helps the community.  I would like to recognize our four “Astor” sponsors for their support – The Ideal Foundation, Kishwaukee Community Hospital, Kindred Healthcare and UPSTAGING, Inc.  And a special thanks to our media sponsors who did such a wonderful job of promoting our event – B-95 WDKB FM, InVirnoments Magazine, LePrint Express, Nelson Multimedia and Shaw Media. Thank you to all of our sponsors for your precious assistance and generosity.

Lastly, thank you to the committee for all your hard work and diligence in making the event a success. This group of special people brought their valuable skills to the event, built on past years’ successes and made this one of the best events yet by providing a positive experience to the community. Their commitment helps ensure the continued financial success of Pay-it-Forward House so that future families in need of lodging because of a loved one’s illness will find a warm and welcoming home-away-from-home.

There is not enough space to list all those who donate goods, services and monetary donation, or the dozens of volunteers who help us with the Fair. Please know that we are incredibly grateful for another successful Meet Me at the Fair that you made possible!
