Johnson named Illinois’ 2013 outstanding district employee

Dean Johnson, resource conservationist for the DeKalb County Soil and Water Conservation District, was named the state’s Outstanding District Employee for 2013 at the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts Annual Meeting in Springfield.

Johnson, a 12-year veteran with the district and a Certified Professional In soil erosion and sediment control was honored during a recognition luncheon on July 22. In presenting the award, Illinois Soil and Water Conservation District Employee Association co-Chairs Betty Buckert and Kara Downin praised Johnson for his commitment to soil and water conservation.

“Dean has built upon his agricultural background to become an expert in conservation and is acquainted with everyone active in conservation in the DeKalb County area and beyond,” Downin said, according to a news release.

“He works successfully in both rural and urban programs and possesses that rare attribute to charge on never saying ‘no,’ or ‘I can’t,’ or ‘we can’t.’ Buckert said in the release. “When I need help with a program aspect, or an opinion on an issue, I can count on Dean.”

Outstanding District Employee is the highest award that can be given to an Illinois Soil and Water Conservation District Employee.
