Women’s club installs officers

Published: Saturday, July 27, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

The Genoa Community Women’s Club recently installed two new officers: Sally Jones, vice president, and Marilyn Chaplin, treasurer. They join President Nancy Burmeister and Secretary Carol Engel for the 2013-14 club year.

The club is a women’s service organization whose purpose is mainly to award scholarships to graduating Genoa-Kingston High School seniors and offer support to local and area endeavors.

The club meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month, except July and August, in the lower level of Resource Bank, Genoa. All civic-minded women interested in bettering their communities are invited to attend.

Several events are held throughout the year. Recently, more than $6,000 was raised during Bunco for Breast Cancer. This event will be held again in April 2014. The club will sponsor bake sales in September and October at the Genoa Open Air Market.

For more information about the club, call Nancy at 815-761-0515.
