Hazel (Ness) (Meier) Sheldon will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 303 S. Seventh St., DeKalb.
Hazel retired after 28 years at General Electric. Since then, she has been volunteering at the DeKalb Senior Services Country Store, Salvation Army Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. She enjoys cooking, baking, listening to music, walking, visiting and taking day trips.
Hazel has two sons, Charles (Bonnie) Meier and Richard Meier; two grandsons, Butch (Doreen) Meier and Tim Meier; and four great-grandchildren, Benji and Molly Meier, and Kori and Jackson Meier.

Jean Jacobson of Shabbona will celebrate her 90th birthday with a family dinner.
Jean was born on July 29, 1923.
She has two children, Gail Loes and David Jacobson. She also has four grandchildren, Julie Baisa, Ryan Loes, Jessica Jacobson and John Jacobson, and one great-grandchild.

Robert and Marcia Dempsey of Waterman are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Marcia Fay and Robert Dempsey were married July 27, 1963, at Waterman United Methodist Church in Waterman.
Bob has been employed as manager of Fay's Pork Chop Bar-B-Que in Waterman since 1976. Marcia is co-owner of Fay's Pork Chop Bar-B-Que.
They have two daughters, Krista (Craig) Mulligan of Sycamore and Diane (Ryan) Tinsley of Sycamore. They also have six grandchildren, Kailey, Courtney and Kelsey Mulligan, and Ethan, Logan and Leia Tinsley.
Gary and Sally Scott of Sycamore will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at Chapel in the Pines Banquet Center, 15165 Quigley Road, Sycamore.
Gary Scott and Sally Kenyon were married Aug. 31, 1963, at United Methodist Church in Sycamore.
Sally retired from Resource Bank and Gary retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a rural letter carrier in Sycamore.
The couple has two children, Stacy (Bob) Pearcy of Clare, and Pamelyn (Joe) Grimaldi of Yorkville. They also have five grandchildren, Kimberly Pearcy, Nicole Pearcy, Joseph A. Grimaldi Jr., Brock Grimaldi and Caden Grimaldi.
