Athena Award nominations taken

Published: Tuesday, July 23, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

Nominations are now being accepted for the 24th annual DeKalb Athena Award and Women of Accomplishment.

These awards recognize an individual that demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession; provides valuable service to business, profession and community; and serves as a mentor or role model for helping women reach their full leadership potential.

Both women and men are eligible for the award. Athena nominees must live or work in DeKalb and still be active in their careers. The Women of Accomplishment Award recognizes those who embody the Athena criteria but who are retired or no longer working in DeKalb County.

The Athena recognition is a national program sponsored locally by the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, DeKalb Sycamore Chevrolet Cadillac GMC and the Daily Chronicle.

Deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Aug. 30. Nomination forms are available at the DeKalb Chamber office, located at 164 East Lincoln Highway and also online at www.dekalb.org.

This year’s award recognition event will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Hopkins Park Community Center’s Terrace Room in DeKalb. The event cost is $25 per person and is open to the community.

For more information, call the chamber at 815-756-6306 or email Rosalie Williams at rosalie.williams@dekalb.org.
