Niemann commits to Iowa

Sycamore senior Ben Niemann, who committed to Northern Illinois last fall, has switched his commitment to Iowa, according to Rivals.

The 6-3, 185-pound Niemann, the son of Huskies defensive coordinator Jay Niemann, was offered a scholarship by the Hawkeyes after visiting a camp in June. While NIU recruited him as a wide receiver, he will play outside linebacker with the Hawkeyes.

Niemann a Daily Chronicle first-team all-area selection last season, had 876 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 2012. When reached by phone, Niemann declined to comment on the situation.
