Frazier named new NIU athletic director

DeKALB – Northern Illinois officials have named Sean Frazier the school's new athletic director in a Tuesday press conference.

Frazier will start in his new role in August. He comes to Northern Illinois from the University of Wisconsin, where he has been deputy director of athletics for the past two years.

Frazier who was one of two finalists for the athletic director job at Rutgers, is the 11th athletic director in school history. He replaces Jeff Compher, who left NIU to become the athletic director at East Carolina in March.

Frazier played football at Alabama from 1987 to '91.
