Family fun day focuses on wells and water

Summer heat, for many people, involves cooling off with water – a nice cold glass of water, a trip to the pool, or a good old fashioned water balloon fight. On Thursday, the Sycamore History Museum will have fun with water too – with a historical spin.

During its Family July Day, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., SHM will host Jeffery Tyrrell, from Tyrrell Well & Pump who will lead a demonstration of how wells are created; visitors will do experiments with water; take home a water-related craft; and end the afternoon with a water balloon fight.

Have lunch on the lawn and then check out all of the activities. Tours of the exhibit, “PLAY: Stories, Mementos, and Fun,” and the garden also will be offered by the junior docents. There is a $5 charge per family. For more information, call 815-895-5762 or visit www.sycamorehistory.org.
