Tri-Counties Opportunity Council can provide a one-time $150 energy assistance to households that meet certain guidelines.

The program, under the direction of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, provides payment directly to the electric vendor, according to a news release. It helps households that have a member age 60 or older, a disabled member or a child younger than age 5, and households that have a medical need for summer assistance.

The gross income for a household 30 days before the application date cannot exceed: $1,435 for a one-person household; $1,939 for a two-person household; $2,441 for a three-person household, or $2,944 for a four-person household. The program starts Monday and runs through July 26 or until funds are depleted. For information, call Tammy Saenz at 800-323-5434 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
