Family Sock Hop bounces around the ballroom

Published: Thursday, July 11, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

Just Make It Happen will present its annual Sock Hop on July 20 in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at Northern Illinois University.

Out-of-pocket family costs has been reduced thanks to Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s $10 Dancing for Health scholarships for DeKalb County residents.

The Sock Hop features the Shananigan Dance Combo, a dance guide, tables and optional BYO decorations. The Shananigan Combo will feature easy dance music with clean lyrics and familiar melodies at a safe volume.

People interested in volunteering can email john@justmakeithappen-dekalb.com for available spots. Duties include registration, welcome escorts, and coordination of onstage visits so children can see and hear how dance music is created.

Single or family groups are welcome.
