Good times and special events will mark the 50th year reunion of the DeKalb High School class of 1963 on Aug. 3 through 5.
Following a successful 45th reunion in October 2008, when about 150 class members and their guests gathered, the Reunion Committee of 15 classmates immediately went to work to plan an even better reunion to celebrate 50 years.
The festivities will begin with an informal gathering Friday night at the DeKalb Elks Club on Annie Glidden Road. Managed by Dick Snow and Terry Parkhouse, the event runs from 7 to 11 p.m. Soda and food trays will be provided, with a cash bar.
On Saturday morning, the action moves to the Buena Vista Golf Course. The outing wll tee off at 10 a.m. and is managed by Ron Burright. An afternoon gathering will be held at the home of Carol Tremble Iskowich from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Saturday evening event begins at 5:30 p.m. for drinks in the Regency Room in Holmes Student Center at Northern Illinois University. At 6:30 p.m. group photos will be taken in Carl Sandberg Auditorium. Then back to the Regency for the banquet.
Former teachers and their guests will be the honored guests for the evening. Also introduced will be the 2013 recipient of the Class of 1963 Scholarship. Memory boards and other displays will be shown and jukebox music will be featured. Co-chairwoman Diane Hiland Ballard will emcee the event.
A Sunday morning brunch will be held at the Mitchel Lounge (old Fargo Hotel) in Sycamore. It is coordinated by Louise Black Flewellyn. Brunch is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
