Woodlawn teen formally denies rape charges

SYCAMORE – A 17-year-old Woodlawn teen formally denied allegations Wednesday that he raped a girl younger than 13.

Derek M. Ferguson, of the 12300 block of North Ring Lane, Woodlawn, was arraigned on allegations of predatory criminal sexual assault for incidents that allegedly happened between March 2012 and March 2013 in Genoa, court records show.

Ferguson's attorney, Nils von Keudell of Hampshire, declined to comment on the case outside the courtroom.

Ferguson is next due in court July 25. He remained in DeKalb County jail Wednesday unable to post 10 percent of his $500,000 bond.
