Jesse Jackson Jr. sentencing delayed

CHICAGO – Sentencing for former congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. for illegally spending $750,000 in campaign money on personal items has been postponed.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson in Washington, D.C., posted a brief note Monday saying Wednesday's sentencing would be held later. She didn't immediately set a new date.

The judge didn't specify a reason for the delay, only that it's being done to "accommodate the court" and that neither defense nor government attorneys requested it.

Jesse Jackson Jr. pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud his campaign by misusing its funds to purchase everything from a gold-plated Rolex to mink capes. He faces a maximum five-year prison term.

Jackson's wife, Sandi, was to be sentenced Wednesday on a related conviction. Her sentencing is also delayed.
