DES PLAINES – Three Chicago men have learned about the risks of robbing an electronics store: Sometimes the things in those stores are equipped with tracking devices that help police track down those who steal them.
The local newspaper reported that the men were in court Sunday where they were formally charged with felony armed robbery and ordered by a judge be held each on $250,000 bail.
Police say the men are suspected in the armed robbery last Thursday of a Radio Shack in Des Plaines. In a report, police allege the men made off with cell phones and other electronics valued at more than $32,000 as well as cash. They were arrested later that day with the help of the tracking devices.
