50th anniversary

Lance and Kathy (Severson) Farris of DeKalb celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 22 with a renewal of vows at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, witnessed by their family at Mass and followed by a family dinner at O’Leary’s Restaurant in DeKalb.

The couple was married on June 22, 1963, at St. Mary Catholic Church.

They have four children, Kelly (John) Cordes, Michael (Jill) Farris and Mark (Katie) Farris of DeKalb, and Jillene (Art) Fessler of West Dundee. They also have 14 grandchildren, Daniel (Miranda) Cordes, Dustin, Ashleigh, Lukas, Sydney, Evan, Morgan, Caroline, Camryn, Maegan, Zachary, Melissa, Maximus, Mallory; and one great-grandson, Jace.

To celebrate this milestone, the couple enjoyed another of their many road trips, this one to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Macinac Island (where they honeymooned) and Washington Island, Wis., off the top of Door County.

40th anniversary

Steve and Sue (Dailey) Appleby of Kingston are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married June 30, 1973, at Mayfield Congregational Church in Sycamore.

Steve retired from the Belvidere Chrysler plant in 2002 after 31 years and Sue has her own financial business, Compass Wealth Services in Belvidere. She has been a financial adviser for more than 17 years and loves helping people. Her family doesn't foresee her retiring anytime soon.

The two volunteer together, golf and travel. They also enjoy spending time with their family and friends, especially their grandchildren.

95th birthday

John F. Nolan of rural DeKalb County will celebrate his 95th birthday on July 24.

John will be joined by family and friends to enjoy a luncheon at the Hillside Restaurant in DeKalb. John will be looking forward to another year and reaching for 96.
