raise funds for music programs
Brad Manning Ford presented $2,540 to the DeKalb Music Boosters and DeKalb High School music department on May 23.
The check represents the proceeds from the first Ford Drive 4UR School fundraiser conducted at the high school on April 12. Manning Ford helped music boosters host the test-drive event at the high school parking lot, where participants test drove Ford vehicles and filled out a brief survey. The boosters earned $20 per test drive.
“DeKalb Music Boosters supports musical groups from DeKalb’s middle schools and DeKalb High School. We try to fill as many director’s requests as possible. With music budgets shrinking, this program was a neat way to raise funds for our kids,” Suzy Changnon, whose son Ben is in DHS choral and band programs, said in a news release.
“I was especially impressed with this program because it didn’t involve supporters having to buy anything, and it garnered financial support from a national corporation,” DHS choral director Travis Erikson said in the release. “We also value the opportunity to work with a local business and have great appreciation for their support of our music programs.”
The boosters and Manning Ford plan to have this fundraiser again next spring.
