MALIBU, Calif. – Authorities are investigating a fight involving former Bulls star Scottie Pippen and a man outside a popular Malibu sushi restaurant during the weekend.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore says the altercation occurred about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Nobu restaurant on the Malibu shoreline.

Whitmore says there was an argument between Pippen and the man, who was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. He added there were several witnesses who are being interviewed by investigators.

Whitmore says criminal charges could result from the incident.

Pippen helped lead the Bulls to six NBA championships in the 1990s.

Pippen is a special adviser to the team's president and chief operating officer. The Bulls declined comment Monday.
