List of Illinois counties OK with concealed guns grows
CARMI, Ill. – The list of Illinois counties where prosecutors have decided not to prosecute people for carrying concealed weapons is growing.
White County State's Attorney Denton Aud says he won't enforce Illinois' concealed-carry ban because of the federal court decision that it is unconstitutional. White County is in far-southeast Illinois.
Officials in Madison, Randolph, Tazewell and Peoria counties have also said they won't prosecute otherwise law-abiding people for violating the ban. And the sheriff in Clinton County has said that anyone from counties that allow concealed weapons won't be arrested for carrying a gun in his county.
The court decision required Illinois to create a law allowing concealed weapons. Lawmakers sent Gov. Quinn a measure but he hasn't signed it.
