Published: Wednesday, June 19, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

SYCAMORE – ComEd will host an open house next month on plans to add transmission lines between existing substations in Byron and Wayne.

The open house will be from 4 to 7 p.m. July 11 at Sycamore Veterans Association, 121 S. California St., Sycamore, according to a news release. The Grand Prairie Gateway Project, which includes 345,000-volt lines, is available online at www.ComEd.com.

After consulting with the public, ComEd will identify a primary route for the transmission lines, as well as at least one alternative route.

ComEd expects to file a request for approval with the Illinois Commerce Commission this year and the commission has 225 days to announce its decision.

The project is expected to begin service in June 2017.

For more information, call the project hotline at 877-279-4732.
