Published: Thursday, May 30, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

The seventh annual running of the Brett’s Run Genoa Days 5K race is set for 8:30 a.m. June 15.

The course begins at Genoa-Kingston High School, winds through the Riverbend and Willow Glen subdivisions – crossing the Kishwaukee River over the pedestrian bridge – and returns to the high school. Awards will be presented to the winners in each of the several age categories for both men and women.

Early registration is available through June 9. During early registration individuals can register for $20 and a family/group of four can register for $65. After June 9, only individual registration is available for $25. Participants can register until the time of the race, but are encouraged to register early. Register at Tobinson’s Ace Hardware, Genoa Fitness Center or online at

The run raises money for the Brett Kubasiak Memorial Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to graduating G-K students. Over six years, the race has raised $58,500, which has been awarded to outstanding local students.
