Valley West Community Hospital, part of KishHealth System, is in the middle of an $11.2 million investment, adding a new 21-room patient wing to the facility along with other major improvements.
KishHealth Foundation’s Heart of the Hospital campaign is raising $1.36 million for the new wing. A special employee-giving opportunity to honor long-time and recently retired Valley West employees, Mike and Jenelle Muz-zillo, is part of this campaign. KishHealth Foundation Executive Director Marcy Rubic recently announced that employees have exceeded their $30,000 goal by 26 percent, months ahead of schedule, to name the new family lounge in honor of Mike and Jenelle Muzzillo.
“Valley West Community Hospital is known for personalized care that is well-suited to its community,” Rubic said in a news release. “The dedication and loyalty demonstrated by hospital employees is genuinely inspiring.”
“The way they give back to the patients as well as the way they have demonstrated their support of this campaign reflects their high commitment to delivering care in a setting that is modern and well-suited to today’s patient needs,” she said in the release.
Mike Muzzillo served in administrative capacities for Valley West for 44 years; Jenelle was a nurse there for 40 years. Together, they gave eight decades of combined service to the hospital.
“The public can continue to support the Valley West expansion in a variety of ways. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to contact the health foundation to learn about giving and naming opportunities,” Rubic said.
Donations to Heart of the Hospital have allowed Valley West Community Hospital to keep pace with medical advances. Many hospital projects and medical equipment purchases have been funded by the Heart of the Hospital campaign over the past several years including HUGS, an infant monitoring system in Maternity Suites and new diagnostic ultrasound system in the diagnostic imaging department, primarily used for cardiac imaging and vascular studies.
