Prison sentence issued for sex offender

SYCAMORE – A 21-year-old DeKalb man was sentenced to four years in prison Monday after admitting he lied to police and violated his probation.

Patrick K. Owens, of the 200 block of North First Street, violated his probation by failing to properly register as a sex offender in November, court records show. He had been convicted of sexually abusing a 16-year-old when he was 20 years old, according to the Illinois sex offender registry.

He had been on probation for violating home electronic monitoring, violation of an order of protection, damaging property and criminal sexual abuse, court records show.

He was given credit for spending 225 days in jail while the cases were pending. He is expected to be released from prison by November 2015, when he is due back in DeKalb County Circuit Court to discuss paying victims the restitution they are owed.
