Bears go Greene in Round 4

The Bears selected Rutgers linebacker Khaseem Greene in the fourth round of the NFL draft on Saturday.

In Round 5, the Bears turned to the other side of the ball by selecting Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Jordan Mills.

Greene, 24, joins second-round draft pick Jon Bostic as rookie linebackers on the Bears' 2013 roster. The Bears selected Bostic at No. 50 overall on Friday before picking Greene with the No. 117 overall pick.

At Rutgers, Greene (6-0, 241) established himself as a reliable tackler and a versatile defender. He started 12 games as a free safety in 2010 before moving to weak-side linebacker, where he started 26 games in the past two seasons.

Greene forced 15 fumbles during his college career, which is an NCAA record. He tallied 387 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 32.5 tackles for loss and seven interceptions at Rutgers.

For the Bears, Bostic and Greene will join veteran linebackers Lance Briggs, D.J. Williams, James Anderson and Blake Costanzo. Other linebackers who will compete for a roster spot include J.T. Thomas, Dom DeCicco and Patrick Trahan.

Meanwhile, Mills likely projects as a long-term right tackle in the NFL. He joins first-round pick Kyle Long as rookies who will be asked to help bolster an offensive line that allowed 44 sacks in 2012.
