DeKalb police launch new tip program

DeKALB – DeKalb police launched their new smartphone application, iWatch DeKalb, on Thursday.

The application allows DeKalb police to receive anonymous crime tips through phone, text, email or a Web-based format, according to a news release. Tipsters can attach images and videos and use 32 languages. Later, the department may use iWatch to support anti-bullying initiatives in school and uncover animal crimes and animal cruelty cases.

The program is not meant for emergencies, though. Tips might not be seen immediately.
