DeKalb County is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 5 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms and hail have already hit portions of DeKalb County today, and are expected to spread across northern Illinois into tonight. More of these thunderstorms may produce hail, high winds and heavy rainfall. There is potential for "an isolated tornado."

A flash flood warning is in effect until 6 p.m. and a flood watch also is in effect through Friday morning.
