Kaneland holds DeKalb to 3 hits in win

The Kaneland baseball team defeated DeKalb, 3-1, on Tuesday. The Knights held the Barbs to only three hits.

John Crosby threw seven innings for DeKalb and gave up only one earned run. He struck out seven.

“I thought John pitched a pretty good game,” Barbs coach Jake Howells said.

Cogs no-hit: Richmond-Burton beat Genoa-Kingston, 1-0, scoring on an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Rockets held the Cogs hitless on the afternoon.

Brady Huffman threw 62/3 innings for G-K (2-9 overall, 1-2 Big Northern Conference East), giving up no earned runs and striking out four.

T’wolves swept: Indian Creek defeated Paw Paw twice, winning 8-1 and 11-0. David Boehne threw six scoreless innings combined. Chris Pickwell was a combined 4 for 5 with four RBIs, while Dillon Martenson went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

The Timberwolves are 5-5.

SOFTBALL

Cogs win in extras: Genoa-Kingston beat Richmond-Burton, 4-3 in eight innings, with Amy Clark getting the game-winning hit.

Danielle Engel went 2 for 4 for the Cogs, while Autumn Kilgus was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Natalie Klein finished 2 for 2 with an RBI.

Baylie Ullmark threw four scoreless innings to get the victory for the Cogs, who are 4-2 and 1-1 in the BNC East.

T’wolves split with Paw Paw: Indian Creek pitcher Amanda Kimpflin had nine strikeouts for the Timberwolves in a 2-1 win over Paw Paw in a game that was resumed from Monday.

Indian Creek lost the second game, 9-5. Alanah Wieseler was 2 for 4 with a three-run home run.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cogs shut out: Richmond-
Burton beat Genoa-Kingston, 7-0. The Cogs are 3-7 and 1-5 in BNC East play.

GIRLS TRACK

G-K 2nd in quad: With 76 points, Genoa-Kingston took second in a quadrangular with Hampshire, Marengo and Somonauk.

Danielle Neisendorf won the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches) and 200-meter dash (27.17 seconds) for the Cogs.
