Letter: Community’s response to a tragic event

To the Editor:

A tragic event struck our town when a Sycamore youth died in a car crash. Luckily, thanks to our community we were able to raise money for the family.

What Culver’s did was just terrific, promising to donate half of their sales on a recent evening to the family. Many people waited more than 90 minutes to get food, but they didn’t do it for that.

They did it for the family. That night you could feel the community wanting to help, and helping is exactly what they did.

I’m proud to live in a community where a franchise like Culver’s steps forward to help the family in their time of need. As we will always keep this family in our thoughts and prayers, we were able to help them through this tragic loss.
