Letter: Vote independent in DeKalb Twp. race

Published: Monday, April 1, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

As lifelong residents of DeKalb, we have seen many changes in our community.

DeKalb is a much more diverse community than it was some 50-odd years ago, and, as such, it needs leadership that addresses the needs of a diverse community.

We encourage our fellow community members to vote for the Independent slate of candidates for DeKalb Township Board in the upcoming election. These candidates come from all walks of life and have backgrounds in business, labor and labor relations, education, real estate and veterans services.

Some of them are lifelong residents and others have chosen to make DeKalb their home to pursue their professional careers and to raise their families.

What they all have in common is a desire to work for the best interests of all DeKalb Township citizens. They believe in DeKalb and are committed to creating a more open and accountable government that strengthens us as a community.

On April 9, please cast your vote for the Independent candidates for DeKalb Township Board.
