Letter: Vote Groce for stronger DeKalb

Published: Friday, March 29, 2013 5:30 a.m. CST

To the Editor:

I am very excited that we have a candidate like Jennifer Groce to elect as our next mayor of DeKalb. As a local family physician and the mother of four children, I applaud Jennifer’s commitment to DeKalb families and businesses and her willingness to step up and serve our community.

Jennifer’s views on economic development and her relentless commitment to ensuring a safer community are exactly what we need in DeKalb. Many of the families in my practice are facing challenges as a result of the economy.

As a mother herself, Jennifer understands those challenges, and she has the expertise, vision and experience needed to enhance our quality of life.

I am an avid runner and fellow Northern Illinois Trail Runner Organization (NITRO) member, where Jennifer has served as an outstanding president, vice president and volunteer. I have run hundreds of miles with Jennifer and even had the pleasure of running her first marathon with her.

She truly approaches life like her running.

She trains hard and is prepared, gives every mile her all, lifts up those around her with her enthusiasm, and has the determination to bring us all across the finish line with exuberance.

What I value most about Jennifer is her ability to bring people together and get the job done. She will be an excellent mayor for DeKalb and make us a stronger community.

Please join me and “Run with Groce.” Vote for Jennifer Groce on April 9 for a stronger DeKalb.
