DeKalb landscape waste pickup starts Monday

DeKALB – Curbside pickup for landscape waste will start Monday in DeKalb.

Landscape material must be placed in biodegradable landscape bags or open garbage cans not larger than 32 gallons. Plastic bags or boxes cannot be used. Brush must be cut to four-foot lengths and bundled only with string or twine. The bundles must not weigh more than 50 pounds.

Landscape waste containers for DeKalb residents will be placed at Fire Station No. 2, 1154 S. Seventh St.; city garden plots near Fire Station No. 3, 950 W. Dresser Road, and the southeast corner of North Seventh and Oak streets. The material should be put in the containers loose or in landscape waste bags, not in plastic bags.

The waste containers are not for nonlandscape items or professional landscape contractors. Dumping waste on the ground near the containers also is prohibited, according to the news release.
